West Shore Sunrise

West Shore Sunrise

I love the colors captured in this photo of the sunrise from the West Shore. It was an awesome sight to see the sun rise over the East Shore mountains. The red glowing reflection in the lake adds an interesting aspect to the photo.

Emerald Bay Crystals

Emerald Bay Crystals

Emerald Bay Crystals

This photo was taken on January 31st, 2009.

I took a quick trip down to Emerald Bay earlier this morning and captured some good photos of the waterfall that I have posted on Tahoe Photos Gallery.

However, I thought this was just a cool photo for posting on the Tahoe Photos Blog. In the Summer this would be a freely flowing part of the waterfall but for now, this little pocket is frozen and creates a wonderful photo.

I like how the early morning sunrise is breaking through the shadows and it seems to add a little extra contrast to the overall image.

McKinney Bay

McKinney Bay Boat Dock

McKinney Bay Boat Dock

This photo was taken on January, 13th, 2009.

This is a photo I have wanted to get for sometime. I have often driven past this particular boat dock and pier and thought it would make a great photo.

This morning, after visiting the Tahoe House, which is now my new regular coffee shop since Starbucks in Tahoe City closed last November — and by the way Tahoe House has some great pastries — I finally found time to stop.

The sun was rising and creating the long post shadows while the frost on the pier had begun melting, it was a perfect (winter) morning and I’m pleased with the results. However, I can hardly believe that its January and although we have snow, its more like Spring!

In addition, I also captured this photo which I think looks ‘cool’ and unique in black and white.

I like how the sun has a ‘spot’ reflection directly under it and then a further reflection that starts under the pier and is being washed in to shore by the gentle ripples of the lake.

Even though its in black and white the photo looks so bright!

Frosty Morning

Frosty Morning

Mt. Tallac

These photos were taken on November 7th, 2008 near Kiva Beach, South Lake Tahoe.

It was a beautiful morning, a crisp frost creating a pure white blanket across the meadow, the sunrise progressively covering Mt. Tallac with a golden top.

A little later the sunrise was well underway and the shadows of the tress were creeping across the meadow. The frost was starting to dissipate as the warm Sun got to work on a new day.

Nobody else around, peaceful silence, broken only by the call of a few early morning crows!

Early November

Early November

Early November

This photo was taken on November 5th, 2008 from McKinney Bay.

It was taken at approximately 6:30am as the sun was rising on a new day. The mist rising from the Lake was spectacular, and the blanket of unspoiled snow covering the beach just adds to the whole image.

You can see that we have had some reasonable snow fall for early November. In fact chain control has been enforced for the drive over Donner Pass, so be prepared if your coming this way soon.

I’m glad to be back from my travels and able to starting posting again.
