South Shore

This is a very famous view of the south shore of Lake Tahoe. Anyone who drives HW89 probably knows exactly where this photo was taken. It’s a bit dicey to park at this location but it’s worth taking 2-minutes to stop and get out of the car.

Mid-photo to the right is Kiva Beach, further up the boats docked are clearly at Camp Richardson, further around is South Tahoe City under the well defined ski slopes of Heavenlyand then finally you can just make out the casinos on the California-Nevada Statetline.

It always amazes me how beautiful the colors of the Lake are and I think this photo captures the main ‘Tahoe Blue’ colors particularly well.

So far, I have never used Adobe Photoshop to enhance a photo. However, I have used some very basic photo features provided with the Kodak Gallery EasyShare software from time to time. This particular photo has NO enhancements as I thought the features, I would potentially use, made it look unrealistic.

Nevada Beach

Nevada Beach

Nevada Beach, one of our favorite beaches on the East shore of Lake Tahoe.

Late afternoon, the clouds were starting to gather. The sun breaking through the accumulating clouds created an interesting image.

I like the rich colors and the sun glimmering off the water – just wish I could hold the camera steadier without a tripod!

Homewood Moonlight

Homewood Moonlight

It was an awesome evening with a clear sky and full moon.

As I drove down the West Shore, returning early from the ‘Tuesday Bluesday’ concert at Squaw Valley, I knew I had to stop and take a photo.

I decided Homewood Marina was the place to stop and my idea was to find a boat or two that I could include in the image.

 

The Lake was calm, the colors awesome. And, if you look closely you can see the duck about to swim through the reflected moonlight.
